If you are wanting a job title for him, I woud call him a metal worker, or a machine specialist. Something of that nature. But, if you are asking how I would ADDRESS him, I would call him Sir.

he would be called a machinist. and not sure if Australia looks for workers from Germany or not but i do know Germany has some of the machinist in the world
