Like any other drug, caffeine (the active ingredient in coffee) affects different people differently, I know folks who constantly drink it all day long with no bad effects. I have to limit myself to drinking it only in the morning to avoid problems sleeping. Just don't get between me and my wake-up coffee if you value your life!

Other factors also come into play. If you're really tired at the end of the day, a cup of coffee MAY make help you stay up a short while longer before you sleep, but not for long.

Don't rely on it to counter the effects of alcohol. All it will do is turn a sleepy drunk who wants to nap into a wide-awake one who thinks he can drive! Let him sleep!

It depends on how high a tolerance you've built up to the caffeine...If you can still sleep after drinking a cup of coffee, then you may need to drink more coffee to stay awake.

Well, I could drink coffee and still manage to sleep. But, it does make me jumpy and if irritated, then won't sleep easily if I had coffee.

Never used to bother me. Now that I'm older, it does. If I drink coffee in the evening, it takes me an hour or more to fall asleep.

Do you feel sleep right after drinking coffee?
Is it after a meal? or are you just tired?
Also, if you start feeling sleepy after drinking coffee and it's not after a meal... you might want to have yourself tested for diabetes.

Coffee, besides making me feel warm and fuzy inside, wakes me up in the morning. It doesn't keep me up at night though. I think alot of it is psychological though, I feel like I have to have a cup in the morning, it's my comfy blanket. But on the weekends, I'm ok without it.

I drink coffee to wake me up in the mornings. I drink hot cocoa to make me sleep. I don't know what's in it that makes me do that, but I love it.

If I don't have coffee, I get tired. It has to be a certain strength for it to keep me awake. One cup keeps me good for the whole day.
