First of all, are you even talking to this person? If not then that the first start. Next ask yourself if it's love or infatuation? We all get infatuated by someone, but that's not love. Love is something that grow in time, while being (dating) with that person. As you are dating the person by your respect,and treating the person alone is showing love, gifts are nice but remember just be there is most important.

Help them reach their goals. Find out what they love and help them get that. Sometimes people think you can buy roses or stuff like that, but it's more deep when you can help them acheive what means most to them. Or if you are going to buy something, make it meaningful. Like if they love to write, you could buy a nice pen and stationary. If they love snowboarding, maybe a cool beanie, you know what I mean? William! All of these answers, are convenient. But they're easier said than done. Some are just ridiculous. Try it, this way. Listen to your Heart. And try to listen to hers. If you Two aren't meant to be. Your Hearts are beatin' together. And wanting to be together. But you have to listen, with every bit of your Strength. It may be hard to do. But Love ain't easy.
