C. Kinda,........the Grand Jury is more or less an prosecuters vehicle to present evidence in order to get a "true bill" in order to go to trial in a criminal matter. The accused is not there, and the "other side" is not heard from ( except extremely rare cases)

The old saying is that a DA can get an indicment against a ham sandwich if he wants one. This is why it should be NEVER assumed that the person that receves a true bill is guilty.

That is for the trial stage to determine.

this is style of the 1st one and the third one. evidence is shown to a Grand Jury so as that they are in a position to make certain if there is adequate evidence to make it lifelike to have self belief that the Defendant committed against the regulation. So i assume, technically conversing, the respond could be the third (*make certain if the evidence warrants prosecution.) Like I mentioned, the Grand Jury comes to a decision if there is adequate evidence to have self belief that they Defendant could have probable commited the crime, and hence make it well worth prosecuting her or him.

Hypothetically, the best answer may be C. A grand jury determines whether there is probable cause to proceed in a criminal case. If they find probable cause, the matter may then be transfered to a petit jury for trial.
