WOW! That is the most compelling argument I've ever seen for the existence of god. Finally I am convinced. It is as though the scales have been removed from my eyes. Where is the Kingdom Hall located? I must join your brilliant husband/pastor's flock immediately.

A new born baby cannot see that God exists. Ever try explaining the concept of god to a 2 year old? 3 year old? They don't get it. Furthermore, the bible is not a text worth referencing to us atheists. To us, the bible is a book composed of many different fables, compiled by humans over thousands of years. It cannot be accurate as it has been handed down at first by mouth then by hand written copies. Gramatical and syntax errors over the ages have produced a very rough copy of the original texts. Also, many books and chapters were eliminated intentionally by the early church and then by councils held sporadically over time. Ask your husband about the book of thomas or the gnostic gospels. So too us atheists the bible is just a book, a book of many stories. It can also be viewed as a text designed to pacify and unite the populace to serve higher powers like the pope or monarchy of the day. Do some research and you will see the bible has thousands of contradictions and errors and cannot be considered historically accurate.

My final thoughts, why can't christians, muslims, jews etc.. see that there clearly cannot be any God. We are on our own, can't they see that? Even a new born baby knows nothing but the world around him. With all the evidence and knowledge available to you, why is it so hard to see the truth? There is no God, Jesus was a man and religion is poison. The opiate of the masses.

Could it be because the bible has changed so much over time that it's no longer the book it was, so that you can't believe it as anything other than a nice history book of the Jewish people in the Old Testament?

Some small examples:
The 1611 KJV Bible changed previous text of "thou shall not suffer a poisoner to live" to thou shall not suffer a witch to live"

Books were added to and removed from the bible from 100AD through 382 AD.

Almost ALL of the miracles in the New Testament were added between 562 and 600 AD a few over time prior to the bible only being written in Latin. Without these miracles, why have faith? In the original texts, only the loaves and the fishes, the water to wine, and massive catch of fish "miracles" were in existance. No Lazarus, no healing, no casting out demons. Saul was not even blinded by a strange light, he had suffered from the sun, and been with fever. How many people do you think would believe he was the son of God without them? Even medieval bible authors knew better, and had to add to the books.

Why believe something that isn't true even to itself?

I really seriously have to wonder what you mean when you say that it so obvious that even a baby sees it. Nothing is obvious at all except that there is a physical world around him full of sights and sounds. People are born with no sense of God. A baby will believe whatever is taught to him by those that he trusts - his parents. The Bible is simply too full of ridicluously contradictory stories, more unbelievable than the fairy tales that you read to him. Without religious training, no baby is going to dream up by itself all the fantastic claims made in the Bible. Once he starts to think and reason for himself, a child raised believing in God seems far more likely to become a nonbeliever than a child raised without any belief is likely to come to believe in God. Fairy tales are fairy tales and Christianity is no more believable than Islam or any other religion. I am not an atheist, but it has taken me 55 years to find God, and that wasn't until I dumped religion and its racist, sexist and murderous doctrines.

So new born babies can read the bible. If your husband told you this then I am afraid he has misinformed you, we all know that new born babies cannot read.

And if God were real and everyone was born knowing it, then there would only be one religion and one God.

Do you realize that the majority of people on this planet do not believe the Bible is the word of God.
More people believe the Koran is the word of God than the Bible
Most people on this planet do not believe in the Christian God.
A sizable percentage of the people on this planet do not believe in any God.
If your husband is so convinced of the existence of God, then let him put his bible down and show us some real evidence for the existence of God.
If all these pastors studied the bible and it's history properly then they would not make such grandiose claims for it.
You need to stop listening to your husbands brainwashing and do some research for yourself.

Although in general respecting the law of the land, you and your husband, as Jehovah's Witnesseses, do not salute flags, sing national anthems, or pledge allegiance to any state or nation. Some of us may think that this is disrespectful to the nation and our government and might ask why you don't "see" it the same way as we do.

You and your husband, on the other hand, may recognize the legitimacy of political leaders, including even Cheney and his pet monkey Bush, believing they are "superior authorities" like those referred to by the Apostle Paul in Romans 13:1 (NWT), and are to be respected.

Indeed, in many places, the Witnesses have been commended for their law-abiding stance. I'm sure you make a distinction, however, between a show of respect and what you consider to be a manifestation of worship.

As a Jehovah's Witnesses, I'm sure you feel that saluting a flag or singing a national anthem crosses the dividing line between the two. This is probably because you believe you owe allegiance solely to Jehovah (God), that he alone may be worshipped.

Having said that, maybe you can "SEE" for yourself that you and your husband live in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural world wherein a wide range of religious and NON-religious thought and practices. I'm sure you and your husband, in your highly evolved spiritual awareness, can understand the importance of respecting those who disagree with you. It's all there in the bible.

Why do you listen to your husband, when you should be thinking for yourself? Athiest is a person who does not need to explain what they do or do not see, as most have no belief in what is referred to as God & Satan by believers of the Bible. An Atheist is not limited in their thinking, therefore, they are open minded & have a better chance at becoming a spiritually connected being. Not even a Christian can say that they can define & describe what God actually is, so don't assume that you or your husband are correct in your thinking as far as what an Atheist can or cannot "see"! We are ALL a part of creation because we are living beings. An Atheist should never be judged. You know this. It's in your Bible. Some Atheists read the Bible & some don't.

The proof of Gods existance is not just in the Bible, but it is all around us.
Paul says inRomans 1:19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Paul continues to say that man
1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rahter than the creator.

Spiritual blindness is what they have and it is caused by a suppression of the truth. They don't believe in God because they do not want to believe. Much in the same way the Pharoah did in Genesis. He hardened his own heart.

Matt

Because they are blinded and deceived. Alot of the athiests answering your question claim that it is because they are an "intellectual" or are simply "smarter" than the Christian who does belive in the Almighty God; Yet, I don't understand why they claim these things. How can they be so very smart and intelligent if they completely dismiss any superior being and don't even ponder as to how we were created in the first place. That to me seems to actually be simple minded, not opened minded as many claim to be. Whether they believe it or not, one day they WILL have to answer to God in the Highest and they will be judged either to eternal damnation or eternal life. I pray for all the lost souls in this world. God bless!

Have you noticed the contradictions in the Bible? And since it is "all there in the Bible", where can I buy my slaves as God said I could own? What is the best market that I can sell my daughter at, as stated in the Bible? What do you think is a good price that I should ask? Do you realize that Noah and the ark is physically not possible to house that many animals and food for 375 days? But that is all in the Bible and only a child's mind would believe it, since it was made up by people with the mental capacity of children.
