I agree, the God of the bible is too bloodthirsty for my taste. If you're going to worship a God, why on Earth pick such a malevolent one?

matt 5:17 doesnt say anything abot violent acts by God first of all secondly, IF God had to use a violent force for anything it was for good reason, either it was toward a Non-believer...or it was to have a message of love behind it..but if you are a non believer your eyes are shut to the understanding of love soo I can see where you are coming from...

Isn't it something that people complain about all the suffering and sin in the world and that God is evil because he doesn't stop it. But let him stop some of it and suddenly he is all violent and evil.
There is a place for violence. In a world where people are allowed to make moral choices, consequences follow. Otherwise morality is meaningless. Some of those consequences are violent and destructive.
You want to end those kind of consequences, stop doing the actions that cause them. But as long as people continue to sin, there will be consequences for it.
Put the blame where it belongs, on the sinners.

Even God can realize when things aren't going the way they should be. The story of Noah's Ark tells that God was too upset with how bad humanity had gotten and decided to push the metaphorical 'reset button' on the world.

God has always acted for the benefit of his people. His acts of violence as you call them, are against those who would oppress his people or lead them astray. The same future awaits those who treat God and his peoples in a similar way today.

Because I have faith that He knows what He is doing and why. I want to be with Him forever. I like His promises and He is in promise keeping business. Nothing else compares to the freedom and the promise I have with/in Him.

So you would rather suffer His wrath just to prove you are right. God is a loving God.

God is sovereign, if he wants to send you to hell-there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
