My daughter(12) likes to take my son (5) swimming, but he's too young to change by himself. She doesn't mind changing in front of him, but a few of the older ladies in the change room apparently are a bit uptight about it.(Most aren't)
What should I do? It's far easier for her to go with him after school than it is for me to leave work early to take them.

Well, I think that, if the kids are discreet about it, then they're no need for people to get upset.

to the other poster, it's kind of silly to wear wet swimsuits home, don't you think, especially in the winter (It was -22c today here)

This is about the age that her body will start to change so it will be time for her to stop changing in front of him. Besides he is at the age where he will be asking about certain body parts and what they are. WHO cares if the other ladies have a problem with him being there. He is a young boy that can not be left alone.

I don't see a problem w/ it. When he gets a bit older he may not want to change infront of her, as long as the family is open and doesn't make it to be wrong their won't be a problem. My brother and I never had a problem changing infront of each other of course we did have our undergarments on while changing. It's usually closed minded people that have problems.

I don't see a problem, given their ages. For the older ladies, evil to him who evil thinks. The boy is too young to be aroused (or to arouse) by seeing one another naked. Probably after 6, when natural curiosity starts to set in, would be the time to keep them separated.

To those who think the whole idea is scandalous, what exactly do you think the consequences would be, besides your own prudish sensibilities being offended?

That could be borderline too old. I think 3 should be the cutoff age.

Have them wear their swimsuits under their clothes to the pool and back home. Problem solved.
