This is hard to answer because I am not aware of your personal budget or your likes and dislikes.
Dinner is hard to plan for. If you should happen to work away from home and time is limited try crock-pot/slow cooker meals. There are plenty of books at the big mega bookstores on slow cooking that should help you. If you have the time to cook dinner lets say an hour and a half prep time available, I would make as much food from scratch because its healthier and less expensive. If you struggle with cooking in general try taking a cooking class. You would be amazed on what you learn. I have been cooking and baking for about 25 years and still go to cooking classes when I can because there is always a new style or technique to learn in cooking. I used to live near a Williams and Sonoma store that offered cooking classes; thats where I learned how to make lamb. Back to your question though, I would suggest going to a bookstore and find what interests you in meal planning. Southern Living and Cooking Light are two of my favorites that I suggest for ideas. There recipes are practical and you don't have to search to timbuktu for ingredients in their recipes.
As for lunch, well if you work outside the home bringing your lunch to work is the best. Its not only less expensive but your more likely to eat healthy if you should choose to do so. I prefer sandwiches, ie chicken, tuna, peanut butter and honey. You can also bring left overs that you can heat up in a microwave. Yogurt or cottage cheese make great additions to a lunch as well as chopped veggies and fruit. Now of course you can also add the junk food snack of your choice. Personally chips ahoy soft choc.chip are my favorite when I don't bring in homebaked goodies.

These are just a few suggestions, there are recipe books dedicated to your question.

Hope this helps you start your own ideas.

Well I took out two huge chicken breasts. I'm thinking of making chicken pot pie or chicken corn soup for tonight's dinner.

For lunch I had a leftover half of turkey sub. Good luck on dinner everyone's hungry but they won't tell you what to cook I HATE THAT.

I'm at work, so it's Qdoba's for lunch. But for dinner, I'm making Parmesan and spinach ravioli's with a brown butter sauce. Grilled polenta for a side and a salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. Poached pears and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Yummmmmmmmm. Can't wait.

Going out for Chinese - it's too cold to think about going shopping for dinner stuff. Don't want to walk through a parking lot to get into the store.

actual temp - 15' F
feels like 4' - wind chill

It's on the stove now. Homemade spicy-sweet vegetable soup with some French bread - Italian sausage chunks, hot & sweet peppers, cabbage, onions, mushrooms, stewed tomatoes, celery, carrots, bok choy, corn, and spinach. Sweet, hot, and tangy. I'm the Soup Man!
