I'm considering becoming a paralegal. The school I want to enroll with (The Paralegal Institute [TPI] out of Phoenix, AZ) is a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). I've contacted NALA and they approve of the school (institution).

I see that the school is also accredited by the Distance Education and Training Counil (DETC) which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Counicl for Higher Education Accredation (CHEA).

I researched DETC degrees and can't find a good answer as to wether or not these schools are legit. Will an attorney hire a paralegal who earned a degree accredited by a DETC school and also approved by NALA?????

Any answers by attorneys and non-attorneys will greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not an attorney and can't tell you if an attorney would hire you with a degree from TPI, but I'm pretty sure that CHEA is the accrediting agency that counts. If they say it's OK, it probably is. CHEA's website address is below.
Good luck.
