Nova Scotia is a wonderful place to live. The provincial capital in Nova Scotia is Halifax.

MacLean's magazine, the national magazine of Canada (similar to Time or Newsweek) declared Halifax "The Last Best Place" to live in Canada (and the world).

Halifax offers the atmosphere of small coastal villages, country charm, and wilderness for which Nova Scotia is known.

Life revolves around the sea.

A very safe environment for living and raising children.

Whatever your budget, there is an investment here for you. Whether it’s just a small building plot or a hundred acres, a cabin or a mansion, you will find it here.

Visitors will find lush vegetation and few, but absolutely delightful, people.

You would be hard pushed to find more courteous, laid-back and helpful English speaking folk, only to pleased to welcome you to their Paradise. The air is crisp, clean and bracing.

Canada is a bilingual country but English is the primary language. The province of Quebec and parts of New Brunswick have large french speaking populations but anywhere in Canada you can get by speaking only English. I'd suggest you try mls.ca, click on different provinces and areas within the province to check real estate prices. Some areas are very expensive. The maritime provinces, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick have traditionally the lowest crime rates and most affordable housing. Good luck with your search. I live in a small French town in New Brunswick. We sent our 2 youngest boys for French immersion right from grade 1 and now at grades 4 and 5 they are fluently bilingual. Great advantage for them later in life.

Alberta is good but there is a price boom on housing right now. Hard to find rental properties as well. BC is nice and the weather is nicer during the year than most parts of Canada. Sakatchewan is BORING, same with Manitoba. I would say stick with the West provinces.
