Its unbelivable but truth...eat more to loose weight. But it depends what you have to. Not eating after six means you are not ready for a nice nap which will however turn you down.

If you want to loose weight, drink one glass of luke warm water with one lemon juice & one teaspoon of honey in it, daily after the breakfast. Hope this helps.

it is a bunch of balonie that is constantly spread by those who have no real knowledge of human metabolism.

* first the 6 meals a day thing. there are many reason why this is beneficial.

#1 - the body does not have the storage capacity for many nutrients. if you eat smaller balanced meals throughout the day, the body can better utilize many of these nutrients.

#2 - eating smaller meals keeps you from starving yourself all day and then possible overeating at night

#3 - eating smaller meals keeps insulin levels stable. controlling insulin is the key to controlling body fat

#4 - eating many smaller meals can help increase the metabolism. when food is metabolized the body must expend energy to digest it. this is called the thermogenic effect of food. proteins cause the highest thermogenic effect, then carbs, then fats. this holds true only for those who are not obese. however they will still benefit from many smaller meals as noted in 1-3 listed above.

#5 - not eating after 6 is rubbish. if your daily caloric intake is 1,500 cals it does't matter when they are consumed in a 24 hr period. now common sense would telll you not to ingest carbs late at night when activity levels are lowest as they "could" increase the potential for fat storage. that being said, you ingest the majority of your carbs in the first 3 meals and the last couple of meals should be proteins/veggies and some healthy fats.

* there are tons of medical studies that have proven that the more fat free mass (lean body mass) that a person has the less the metabolism decreases during sleep. elite athletes may only experience a decrease of 3-5% in the metabolic rate during sleep, while people that are obese will see a dramatic decrease in the resting metabolic rate closer to 15-25%.

this is why it's so important to preserve lean body mass when diet, as it is metabolically active 24 hours a day...

It's not as simple as that. If you want to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume. People say not to eat after x:00 because most people will be less active in the evenings and will burn less calories. While you sleep, your metabolism will be at it's lowest.

But the metabolism doesn't run on a punch clock. There's no magic switch that's thrown after 6:00. As a rule of thumb, try to ingest more calories during your most active period of the day, and less when you're resting.

Actually I have only heard of not eating after 2pm. That does work but it's hard to get started. Once you have done it for about a week its a breeze to continue and it does work.

I heard that it's just a myth. As long as you let your food digest properly you'll be fine. Don't lie down after you eat.
