Hi. I had to spend some time as a voluntary patient in a private mental hospital. The psychiatrist assigned to me is, I discovered later, an active Evangelical Christian. He told a great many (easily provable) lies to me and about me, intended to cast me in a bad light and to make me feel bad about myself. (For example, he said that other patients had complained about me, which I don't believe, and later was forced to admit that this isn't in my notes nor the notes of the other patients ... strange). He wrote me up as having a problem with alcohol, on the basis of one liver function reading from years previously that was actually heart failure. My doctor won't send any more patients to him.
I'd be curious to know, especially from Christians, what they think should happen or will happen to this man, who is still practising and presumably still damaging other people he doesn't like.

Thanks for (most of) the answers so far; very supportive and thoughtful. But in answer to a couple of them: No, I didn't make it up - why would I waste everyone's time? - and I never said anything about whether I myself am Christian, born-again or not. But thanks to the rest of you.

I know of someone who was councilled about being an abusive parent by a Christian counselor. They determined he couldn't have abused his daughter, because he found Christ.
Severely evangelical Christians give the rest of us a very bad name. They are emotional terrorists and fundamentalists, and they cannot be objective about many things, and should not be put in any places of resposibility, especially in regards to mental health, since the mental health of a religious fundamentalist is suspect in the first place. I see a conflict of interest.

Don't you think it would be more appropriate to say "a few" rather than "many"? The fact of the matter is, if you tell an atheist you had a divine intervention of some sort, they automatically think you are deceived, or just plain lying. So if you want to think that "most" Christians are liars, then there is nothing one can do to dissaude you from that.

His license should be taken away and he should be put in jail for a while. He doesn't sound like a true christian. Maybe he is the one who needs to be the patient.

Nothing will happen to this man.
If you are a Christian, why are you in a mental hospital?
Freudian Psychology is in direct opposition to Biblical teachings.
A "Christian Psychologist" is an oxy-moron. One cannot be in that career without compromising both Christianity and Psychology.
These people are known as "integrationists" in Christian counseling circles. In essence, they promote the ideation that God's Word in not sufficient to keep us.
If you are a born-again Christian, avoid such therapists and facilities in the future. Trust God's Word to teach you about Him and about yourself.
No offense, but get your head together, repent of the sin(s) that you are trying to hide, and deal with your sin nature at the foot of the cross of Christ.

His being Christian is irrelevant. His being sloppy is relevant.
File a complaint with the state board.
You probably will not be the first to do so.

The trouble with christians, is they are so holier than thou, that they think they are right about everything. He is probably screwing up the minds of many every day, and feeling good about it.

If a man does that to anyone, does that make him christian? do you really think he's one of those holy ones and not a demon? I don't think you would believe that you and that evangelical christian are the real demons. Real christians would not have done so.

i'm sorry this happened to you. but you must forgive him in order to seek happiness within yourself. God will either stop him from practicing in this corruptive way, or when this man die, he will have to face the judgement from God. in a way, i feel sorry for him on his judgement, because Jesus said that every single word will be accounted for. and God doesn't take to lightly when a man tries to corrupt another.
