I seen that episode of Maury and eveyone who has answered this is not understanding your question. There was a woman who wanted a DNA test for her baby. The guy she was accusing had a identical twin brother who was claiming he slept with her, too and could be the father of the child. When Maury announced the results, both men were the father, because they are identical and have the same DNA. Since the two came from the exact same egg, they have the exact same DNA. There is no way to know for sure which one fathered the child. But if I remember correctly, they did a lie detector test on the woman and she passed the test, which made them believe that she had slept only with the one she was blaming and not his twin. Which if you believe in lie detector tests, would make the first one the father and not the second one, even though there is no way to know 100%.

I watched that one on Maury ! If the twins are identical they do share the same DNA and the DNA test will prove the father of the baby. now if there are not identical but fraternat twins and that you had intercourse with two men at a different time in the same day it can be that one is the father of one of your baby and the other baby have his own father also because two diferent sperm fecond the ovums. But in the case of identical twins they just have one father for both, i heard that its happened that they do not share the same DNA only when the babys are they own twins somthing like that.

No, a paternity try would not be able to verify who fathered a baby if both applicants were same twins, as their DNA is the same. i do no longer watch cleansing soap operas, yet i'm particular this plot has in all likelihood been used as i recognize that exact same twins and flawed identities are prevalent storylines.

Identical twins have identical DNA. A DNA test would confirm the one Father for both babies.

Identical twins have their own set of DNA or they would be considered a clone. So for paternitiy testing it is possible to tell which twin fathered the baby.

I think you may mean fraternal twins where there were two original eggs (identical starts as one and divides to two). In that case a DNA test would be done on both kids to determine each child's individual paternity.

First of all, they were NOT identical twins - they were FRATERNAL twins. That is the ONLY way they could have differnet fathers. 2 different eggs were fertilized.
Identical twins are formed by ONE FERTILIZED EGG that splits in to two embryos.
I saw that episode - it was funny!

IDENTICAL twins [one egg split into two] have the same DNA - hence the same parents...
FRATERNAL twins [separate eggs, same womb] can feasibly have two different fathers though this is VERY rare !

It would be inconclusive because they have the SAME DNA!
You couldn't possibly know.
