Do you know of anyone who has been buried (don't know what word to use) at sea?

I went to my cousins husband funeral and NO one from his side of the family showed up and when it came time to push him into the oven for cremation I was asked to do it...that was weird for me.

Haven't known anyone buried at sea. However, the most unusual memorial service they handed out balloons and then we all released them at the same time. And they used it as a way of "releasing" our hold on the grief for that person. It was rather cool.

I am not black but I went to a black funeral for a co worker once and it was extremely different than any I had been to. I was almost frightened at the boisterousness of it. People grieve in different ways and I am glad I had the experience while paying my respects.

I know someone whose ashes were scattered on one of the Great Lakes if that counts as buried at sea. I don't think it does, though.
