I had my belly button pierced in July. It is healing fine. But the sensitive skin around the piercing has gotten very dry this Winter. What can I do about it; without risking infection?

put neosporin around it with a q-tip. Do it after you get out of the shower. You will have to do it for a few days.

Use lotion or vaseline just make sure that before you go to bed that you clean it well act like you just got it pierced and then when you take a shower clean it well and put more stuff on but just dont keep cramming the area full of lotion each time you are ready to put more on you need to clean it that way if there is dirt fuzz or dead skin cells you wash them away and then your piercing wont get clogged and you wont have an infection. OR call the place you got it done or a local piercer place and ask them what they would recommend for a 6 month old piercing that would moisten skin and not cause infection.

Make sure you are still cleaning the piercing, but not over-cleaning the area. Sometimes that can cause irritation to the skin and dry it out. Usually just a little dab of Anti-Bacterial lotion should work just fine for the sensitive area of skin though.

You might try putting vasaline on the dry skin or you can even put baby oil in your bathwater.
