the main thing is keep it warm ,dont let the cold get anywhere near it it will hurt like hell ,then take pain killers ,you could try putting olive oil down it to give it a clean but dont pock at it just get the dirt out that you can reach with out going in too far ,when you go to bed take a hot water bottle and lay your bad ear on it the warnth is soothing ,,,it it isnt getting better in a day or two go and see a doc there could be more wrong with it as if you have infection you will need medication to help it ,,,,

There are so many different remedies for ear aches. I agree with the other gal. Simply get the right medication that helps all your symptoms and apply a heating pad to the ear for 10 minutes at a time. Don't keep the heating pad there all day. Shift on and off the heating pad so not to incur additional pain. Keep yourself warm, your neck and your face area. Lay down, take the day or the next couple days off and simply rest.
God Bless

go to the doctor it could be the starting of an ear infection, alot of times people prone to ear infections will get one after a cold as the cold settles in the ear some times, go get on antibiotics early before your earache gets worse.. unless its just a sinus headache, if thats the case take a sudafed.

Decongestants and painkillers. The earache is probably caused by pressure because your sinuses are blocked. If the pain gets unbearable or you get discharge from the ear then see a doctor.

Otalgia, ear pain, may be caused by infection but not always. The only way to be certain is to have it evaulated by your physician. Frequent noseblowing done incorrectly will drive bacteria into the eustachian tube and it will work it's way into the middle ear. What the person directly below me suggested in a great way to drive bacteria into the middle ear.

Go to a doctor, they can usually give you something for the pain, and also see if anything is in your ear that could be making it hurt. They can also remove it if that is the case.

Basically, just watch your symptoms. If you develop a high temperature, notice discharge from your ear and do not see any improvement, you should consult an internist and if need be, you should see an EER physician.
