i have brown hair, poofs up around the temples and its long,

i use a ponytail a lot so it has some waves where its gathered together

cut in layers and reaches to the middle of my back.

i hate to use products on it aside from some leave in conditioner,

i'm NOT buying some 30 dollar product just to discover that, WOW, it doesn't work!!!!!!

so, anything i can do to make it less puffy? would cutting it short help? should i keep it out of ponytails for a while and see if it straightens out?

thanx 4 help....

I would recommend using a heavy conditioner to help weigh the hair down with out using any products after wards. I was wonder if your hair is straight and fluffy or curly and fluffy? If it is straight use Smooth Down Butter Treat by Redken. After you get out of the shower use a light styling cream like Grund light texture just to keep out moisture, which makes hair more fluffy. If curly use the same conditioner "Butter Treat" and then use Ringlet by Redken and let hair air dry. I think this will solve your problem. Good luck with whatever you decide.

HI! I have puffy hair too. Actually it has quite a wave to it. It starts out straight when wet and then it turns into clown hair when dry. I use a flat iron in the morning to flatten it out. When I go to the salon for a trim, I ask them to thin it out or texturize it which takes a lot of the weight off. Just last night I tried a new shampoo. It's Sunsilk Anti-Poof in the blue bottle, and I think my hair did come out less poofy. Keep in mind, I live in s. Florida where the humidity causes a big poof problem.

IF YOU PUT YOUR HAIR UP IN A PONY TAIL, WHILE IT IS STILL WET, IT CAUSES BREAKAGE. WHEN HAIR IS WET, IT IS A 1/2 INCH LONGER THAN WHEN DRY, SO AS IT DRYS IT CAUSES TOO MUCH TENSION AND THEN BREAKS. DO A LOOSER PONY IF YOU DO IT WET, OR TAKE YOUR HAIR DOWN AND DO IT AGAIN WHEN IT IS MORE DRY.
DON'T CUT IT! YOU DON'T HAVE TO! A SIMPLE / INEXPENSIVE WAY TO GET RID OF THE FLUFF, IS A "SHINE" PRODUCT. (MOST LINES CARRY ONE). IT IS LIKE AN OIL THAT YOU PUT IN AFTER STYLING (NOT WET), THAT PUTS A GORGEOUS LUSTER ON YOUR HAIR AND GETS RID OF THE FLUFF AND FRIZZ ALL DAY. $5.00, BUY IT ANYWHERE TRY A SALON FIRST (BETTER PRODUCTS).

Don't cut your hair!! At least not yet.Try changing conditioners for awhile or try using the conditioner that comes with most dyes or perms about 3times for deep conditioning which will help with frizzies.

You can purchase a very small hair straightener but definitely do not cut it short because you will have less length and your hair will be lighter so it'll be prone to more fluffyness.

Ask your hairdresser and in the meantime, use any of the following-3 minute miracle aussie brand, infusium for permed hair, also I use curling iron with a brush on it and heated rollers.

i use gone in 60seconds in is a leave in conditner and you leave in in for 3mins and then wash out my hair is rather thick aswell this gives it a boost and keep all those fly aways toned down it is less then $10.00 don't cut it as it will just be more puffy as it will be much lighter.

I had frizzy, poofy hair, then I got the MaxiGlide straighner. It uses steam. It costs about $80-90..but for me, it was definately worth the money!!

Most of the time I spray a little shine spray on my hair when its damp and comb it through and let it dry naturally. Works pretty good for me. Good luck.
