God smites someone for spilling his seed on the ground instead of impregnating his sister-in-law.
(Genesis 38:9) - "And Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so it came about that when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground, in order not to give offspring to his brother."

There's the story of Onan in the OT. God became quite displeased with him for allowing "his seed to spill upon the ground". If I'm not mistaken, the story is in Genesis, but you can cross reference it and read up on it.
