Yes!! The national opt out center will take you off their lists:

https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t

The only ones who can then send you info are banks with which you deal with already. In those cases, you need to contact your bank (where you have checking or savings accounts, loans, etc...) and ask to be taken off their lists.

The link above works! I tell everyone I know about it.

Jean Chatsky did a segment about this on the Today show about 2 months ago. Go to the today show's website and look under money matters. There is a number you can call and it will eliminate all credit card offers. I did this right away (you do have to provide you social security number) and I haven't gotten any in a month.

Yes. What you need to do is look in the disclosures you get when you get a new credit card. You will want to fill out the opt out notice.

I tear all the paperwork in half and put it in the self addressed, postage paid envelope provided. They only pay the postage when the envelope is actually used. Soon they will tire of it and it's also fun to do.

i always shred the request and put it in the envelop supplied and send it back so they will have to pay the postage and eventually they will get the hint. Worked for me, give it a try.
