Jeancommunicate: I beg to differ about the Bible being the greatest story every written. I think the Iliad is more entertaining, and it's based on actual events (the Trojan War). You said that 500 people witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. I find that hard to believe because only one scribe from that time period even mentions Jesus, and it's not a first person account. Good try though.

Maybe Mithras had a good publicist and an agent to get him to star in sequels.
Any believer that cannot accept that Christianity grafted itself onto the existing Mithras cult in Rome simply does not know their history.

a) The resurrection isn't the only miracle Jesus carried out to instruct his divinity. therapeutic the paralytic supported his declare to a god-like skill to forgive sins (Mark 2:one million-11), How skill over nature became god-like (ie calming the hurricane Mark 4:35-40-one) and his skill to heal the blind became in user-friendly terms do-in a position by skill of God (John 9). Jesus for sure predicted people to comprehend who he became according to his miracles (ie Mark 8:11 the place Jesus is pissed off that the Pherisees asked for a demonstration immediately after his feeding 4000 people) So the reason of the resurrection and exhibiting himself afterwards became no longer in user-friendly terms to make unbelievers have faith. there are various angles to the resurrection that Paul, Peter and the author of Hebrews evaluate. Lee Strobel no longer withstanding. b) Why are there not greater extant data of Jesus after the resurrection? the only (human) reason that we've the 4 gospels that we've is via the fact people took the time to make copies and unfold them around via the roman empire. i think this attempt (and copying stuff accurately took a great style of attempt returned then) became in user-friendly terms spent on the main finished data of Jesus' existence, and those from the main stable components. The 4 gospels have been stored because of the fact what they reported became attested to by skill of the people who have been there and observed it first hand. it must be that people from that 500 wrote their money owed. whether, given the small style of any survivng data from that factor (religous or in any different case), it is not stunning that for the period of user-friendly terms those considered maximum extreme survived the 300 years of persecution, and then the descent of the Roman Empire into the dark an prolonged time.

A lot of your super heroes and your fictional characters and your fairy tales and quite a bit of make believe comes from reading portions of the Bible. Why not, it is the greatest book ever written. There is no super hero like Almighty God. His story (history) is the greatest story of factual evidence ever written. The Bible was written by God therefore you have many Scriptures that man could never have thought of but God sent His word to man to write. A lot of men would like to say that Jesus Christ was not a true person, but He is a fact of history. His death, burial and resurrection are noted by historians. As are His many miracles even of raising people from the dead. After He was buried 500 people saw Him alive as well as other dead people who had died. Not your everyday occurrence. Mithras is not even close.

Jesus was not a reincarnation. He was the Incarnation.
Remember, Jesus looked about and formed His own religion. Either you follow that, or you do not follow Jesus.
