That child should have gotten her butt spanked. My 2 year old knows better than to act like a little hellion. I agree with you.

I know it!
My 2y/o hasen't acted out in public yet, she's very well behaved and i put it down to discipline in the home.
Instead when we're out she's such a doll, she blows everyone kisses and waves and tells the cashier or familiar faces "i love you" lol.
But by gosh the day any of my girls step out of line in public, i will reign down on them like a ton of bricks! I don't think it's acceptable to have your children act up in public - ESPECIALLY on a plane or any public transport. It's rude and direspectful.
I don't appreciate anybodies child kicking the back of my seat, or screaming up the isle, or throwing tantrums for something, i don't expect that behavior from my kids, i shouldn't tollerate it from anyone elses!
"if i had done what that little girl done i would be running around looking for the other half of my tail. if you love them ,correct them .!"
Absaloutly agree!!!!!

I don't think anyone should have a say in this matter unless they have had a tree year old. I have one right now and they can make you go crazy. I definitely would not have let him get the better of me in a public place though. He would have been slapped in that seat and physically held his mouth closed. It's a rediculous situation all in all, that a parent cannot get their child under control. But maybe the child has problems and was getting scared or claustrophobic on the airplane. Who knows...

This is pretty interesting because I *was* that little girl when I was really young. My parents tell me that I used to be "hell in the sky" on planes. Up until I was around 6 years old, I remember screaming, and throwing tantrums and people yelling at my mom. Poor woman...lol "control your child, lady!!". My mom just tried to calm me down with food and toys and by petting my hair, but to no avail... some people just don't do well on planes. I still get tired and cranky on planes (I just don't scream and pout lol)

Ok, I am going to play devil's advocate here. I'm not familiar with why they got kicked off a plane, but I do know that the "waiting game" that happens while traveling is enough to make a grown adult go insane, never mind a child. Look at the situation through their eyes for a moment. Out of control child, or waiting three hours to finally get on a plane?

i am glad they got kicked off the plane but they need to get over it. they need stop being hard headed and remember the safety issues. the airplane has an obligation to make sure everyone has their seatbelts on and they are safe. no exceptions.
they need to think about everyone on the plane that may have connecting flights and not just about themself.
a few years ago i left a restaurant because my son was throwing a fit . i seen it coming and noone had to say anything to me. i asked the waiter for the check because my son was acting up and i don't want to ruin anyone's evening.
I don't know if the parents lack skills or not. it just seems that they are being self centered.

It's not easy being a parent. There is no license for it, no class, no certificate. You just choose to be a parent or you become one. You think you will be different and will have it under control. You read all the parenting books, but when the tantrums come on, those books are out the door. There is no training for this, you learn and you develop your parenting skills. A lot of parents are not bad parents. It is really hard to reason with a small child who does not understand their behavior is unacceptable. It is easy to be as person watching and say oh what a bad parent, they have no control. Seriously, how would you react if you had a toddler acting this way? So many people seem to be such experts on this, except the parents themselves - who must be complete lazy stupid idiots. Why is it that people who don't have children always act as if they know how to raise children?

Amen to that- I agree 100% with you.
It is people like those who make ALL parents of young children look stupid and make children unwelcome in public places.
If my kid FREAKED out on a plane like that and I had lost total control, it would be MY duty as the PARENT to take my kid out of that situation for the sake of OTHER people-- the same goes for restaurants, stores, etc., etc.
I've had to walk out of restaurants in the middle of ordering, etc. before and I'm sure I'm not done just yet...

It isn't easy being a parent and children can be frightened, especially on such a massive, foreign object like a scary looking plane. However, I believe the employees did what they felt was right, esp. since they have to think of the other passengers. We can't judge if these are bad parents or not just based on this one incident. Children aren't perfect angels all the time.

Are you serious? Do you have kids? Even with the best parenting, there are times when a child of this age is completely out of control....especially if there are developmental or neurological problems (often not diagnosed until age 5). My husband is a doctor and I teach pre-school....there are sometimes kids who are just difficult at that age. I am not saying the child shouldn't have been taken off the plane because I wasn't there to see the behavior, BUT...for those of you who think that you are wonderful parents because your child hasn't or doesn't act this way...think again. It might be that you have a docile child or that your child hasn't reached the age when they just "freak out" and have a melt down. Don't praise yourselves too much. The "my child would never do that" line will always come back to haunt you!

There is probably more to the story then we know. It sounded like they could not control their child. Must have been pretty bad that they kicked them off. The kid sounded like she needed a good asswhooping.
