sometime in may i'm scheduled to go to a cookout in compton california for a graduation party. i am going no matter what. even though i'm white. yes i was invited, i'm not a cop nor am i racist. but that don't mean crap to the crips. i know i'll be shot at any advice on how to avoid most of the bullets. or at least so i can come back to indy in a plane instead of a hearse. this is a real question, and i don't have any intention of starting before.
last time i was there in 02 i was shot in the knee. how can i avoid that from happening again

Ask the people you are spose to meet at the cookout if there is anyway they can pick you up from the airport or some of their close friends and stick with them. Then you shouldnt get shot at for you will have people from the hood with you also try to not wear offensive colors wear the colors they do if nothing else and unless you start something they should have less reason to shoot at you. Also you could wear long sleeves and stuff and paint your face or open areas of the body rinse before the party and dont smile at the people. You have to be out of the way of the bullet before it even leaves the gun. Except from extreme distances, where the bullet would hit before you would even hear the gun, that bullet is going to travel much much faster than your reflexes will ever be. Best way to dodge a bullet, be on the other side of the gun.

Keep your head up and project the attitude that you belong there. You may still get shot, but there should be a little more respect in where they aim the gun. Otherwise, show up as a drunken clown and pass out on the lawn at the first sight of a piece.

If you can't get a bullet proof vest, I would suggest wearing silk. Silk is stronger then steal and was used in the old days to prevent bullets from getting lost in the body. If you get shot just pull on your silk shirt and the bullet will pop out, although you may still bleed to death.

Well, you'll be about as welcome as Reverend Jesse Jackson at a KKK rally, that's for sure. I think you need a buddy. Somebody with a bit more of an ebony skin tone, that doesn't let you out of his reach. If there's somebody to vouch for you, I think your chances of survival come up astronomically. Pray? I have a brother who is East coast in annapolis on a Mormon mission, and the gangs there don't shoot them becuase they are "men of God" which is SO cool.
Dont do anythign to offend them. Gang-bangers dont just go around shooting people for kicks and giggles, they have more pride and respect then that.
Dont look at them in the oh you a gangbanger kind of way, or disrespect them. and they normally dont hurt you for it.

this is a complex question..ive lived in the baddest of all neighborhoods filled with drugs, and murders daily..just dont make eye contact, avoid potentially dangerous areas..compton is a place to be very cautious at all times..i was going to suggest wearing bullet proof vest-dont know where you can get that!..just stay safe..be very aware of your surroundings! at first hint of danger, run away..get out quickly
