Come on those of you who say God is not real, answer the question. What's the true purpose of living creatures on earth?.... when God does not exist; in your train of thought.

Why earth and not the other planets??... don't say because they are too close or too far from the sun... explain to us your logic. Help us to understand you better.

most of you failed to realize it is not I that claims there is no life form.. scientist are the ones that have come up with the reasoning with life forms could not live on the other planets. Good try in twisting what is being asked to you all. So far there are only three good answers, rest of you are arrogant and ignorant in your responds. Thanks for answering though you got two points.

I am a true believer in God and in Christ....however, the answer is easy.

Assuming there is no God...
1) The earth was a swollen mass of nutrients about 4.5 billion years ago. Almost constant lightning strikes to the primordial goop energized and fused different bits into simple proteins. Over time, these proteins "teamed up" to form units. The units were "eaten" by cells (phagocytes) that developed the same way, and they had a symbiotic relationship. This went on and on for BILLIONS of years.

2) Why earth and not others? Why not? We don't know it did not happen with millions of others that we do not know about. Also, since it was a very specific sequence of events that brought about life, it is entirely possible that we are a random chance. One in a billion, say. Well, if there are a billion other planets that did not form life, then we are good for the odds.

Again, I am a Christian. But, you cannot use "we are here" to prove God. God is not to be proven. He is to be believed in, loved, and feared.

There is compeeling evidence that there used to be bacteria on Mars. If this is true it can mean a number of things.

1) God tried to create life on Mars first but realized it wasn't the right planet (which would mean God isn't perfect so that has to be out right?)

2) Some random occurance like amino acids formed single cell life on Mars too, but again the environment wasn't good enough for evolution.

3) A piece of early Earth broke off and flew into Mars sending bacteria with it.

4) There was no bacteria on Mars.

I think #2, but it's something to think about no?

Who's to say there is no life on other planets? It would be incredibly naive to claim that we are the only life in the whole of the universe. Your question is a false dichotomy. You are saying that gods existence is necessary because we are here. You fail to realize that the most likely scenario is that we have created god BECAUSE we are here and feel like we need that to give our lives meaning.

Honestly, it seems to me that you know that the earth isn't the center of the universe... however your argument seems to revolve around the notion that it is. The reason you feel that we are all that matters in the universe is because you can't see beyond this planet.

Actually we have found evidence of life on other planets. While not humanoid the small bacterial creatures of Mars are life. Also we have only actually been to a small sample of the planets even in our own solar system. While they may not be hospitable to life of creatures from our planet other species may have inhabited them at one time or another.

As for planet Earth creatures adapt to the world around them. Over the eons species have adapted to the conditions of the terrain or they perished.

How do you know there isn't life on other planets?

To me, it's pretty arrogant to think that this is the only speck of dirt in a nearly infinite universe that has life.

And it's pretty silly to use the existence of life on this planet as "evidence" of a Higher Power.

The "true purpose" of living creatures on earth is for them to grow, reproduce, and die. To think that a Deity put them on earth because it (or they) are somehow "special" is ignoring far too many principles of science.

how do you know there sin't some form of life on other planets that is so unlike us that we can't detect it? Who are you to decide what defines life? Have you been to every other planet in existence to prove they have no life, or are you just saying that based on our solar system, which is nowhere near the extent of all the planets in the universe. Even if there really isn't any other life anywhere in the universe, life on our planet could be an accident, a mistake, considering it's killing the planet and all the others in our solar system are remaining unchanged--maybe life existed on all of them at one point in time and they trashed their planets just like we're trashing ours and killed themselves--ever think outside the book?

Why must you insist that there is purpose to life?? PURPOSE - it is only something HUMANS subscribe to... Has it ever occurred to you that there is no purpose in life? (Of course not - you beleive in God...but what is your purpose for GOd? He created you for no other purpose than to have something to worship HIM??)

Sorry, but I cannot answer your second question when you take the very scientific reason life doesnt exist elsewhere inside our solar system and say I cannot use that reason... But it is the reason. Im certain life exists on other planets in other solar systems. But we are carbon based lifeforms which can only survive in a narrow band of temperatures.

Ya, you are really confused. What if I tell you that God is just an idea, huh? Once there was a time when strange things began to happen, very strange things that people didn't know the origin or the why of them. So lacking understanding of what was happening people just thought there was something behind what is happening; a someone, lets him God.

And thats how people began calling God; whereby a groups of people had their own god, for which one outstood them all... email me for more of this.

I don't know what the purpose is or if there is a purpose. It makes no difference. I evaluate the evidence and my feelings do not enter into it. I may not like the truth, but that does not make it false.

There is life on Earth because the theories of chemistry and physics support the initiation and continuation of life on this planet.

That's it, that's all there is to it. You are nothing more than a self-aware and self-contained vat of chemicals. Same with the rest of life on the planet.
