Well mormons believe that if you do enough good deeds, you may become a God. But let them believe this so there is more room in heaven for us believers who know the truth.

I don't know which religion you're talking about.

I know some religions where God/Goddess energy flows through a priest/priestess for a time.

I know some religions that believe everyone is part of the macrocism that is god. They don't see God as a being, rather than all life linked together.

Even satanists don't believe that they are God. And much of their believe structure is geared toward the self.

I don't know what religion you're talking about.

Because to some becoming a god is a very attractive thought so the religion probably uses this doctrine to attrack more followers.

Because they do not teach the trure word of God and disobey His instructions...

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exodus 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

Judges 10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

To believe that you can become a god is blaspheming the Holy Ghost.

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

That is one of the serpents first deceptions to the woman about eating the forbidden fruit. "You will become like Gods knowing good and evil...". They were in the image of God already. When they died spiritually after eating the fruit, they were less like God.

The serpent also tempted Jesus Christ similarily. Jesus answered with the written word, "It is written...". Jesus overcame this deception. But, others have been tempted in this area also after rejecting Gods Saving Grace message (The Good News), and created a religion that goes along with satans deceptions.

This teaching is not bible-based; it is man’s teaching of their own philosophy.

2 Timothy 4:3,4 "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories."

2 Timothy 3:16,17  "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."

Revelation 22:18,19  “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll."

Any teaching that is not bible-based is not coming from the one true God.

They might be right. Note though, that as, far as I know anyway, its not a question of becoming a god, but about attaining enlightenment. Enlightenment is about oneness, wisdom and peace. It's not about power.

They want to become powerful, an allure for those without power in this world.

Mormonism is one of these. I believe they are wrong. Of course, they believe I am wrong.

The good news is that it is not up to either group to decide. It is up to God, alone.

It's a reward meme.

"Believe in this entire memeplex and when you die you become a god."

People tend to like power and immortality so being a god is appealing. So they're likely to accept the memeplex in order to accept the reward meme.

Because all religions are based on nothing but speculation so anything they say can be true if they believe it is.

Hogwash... there is no god
