- student must either be undergraduate or enrolled in an eligible postbaccalaureatte program
- not incarcerated in a federal or state penal instititution

you do have to have an EFC of around 3800 or lower. The Pell grant award is based off of your EFC. With an EFC of 0 you should be able to get $4050 for a year (for full time status), the amount decreases each number your EFC is.
You do have to be legal citizen of the US, a degree seeking program (excluding Masters, and subsequent degrees), no overpayment in Pell awards in the past. Remember too, your school can take it away from you if you don't keep your grades up or if you drop too many classes.
