I want to pierce my own belly button because my dad won't let me get it profecionaly pierced until I'm 17 but that's 3 more years and I don't want to wait that long. I already tried piercing it and it turned out fine but I couldn't get the ring through. Does anyone know how to get the ring in once you pierced it?

Although piercing your own belly button isn't a good idea, you have to do this safely. Use a sewing needle because they are hollow. (safety pins are not safe and they can decompose inside of you) First ice it until it is a little numb. Then make a marking with non toxic marker, where you would like it. Then grab that piece of skin (with you washed hands) and push the needle through. You should soak the needle in rubbing alcohol or a cleaning supply that you receive when you get your ears pierced. Leave the needle in for about an hour and then place you r choice of belly button ring in. soak or boil the ring before you put it in. Then do not touch it or play with it at all. Clean it 2-3 times daily and wear loose shirts so that it doesn't get caught. Rotate once a day during cleaning. I did mine own like this and it did not get infected at all. Be careful and think it through before you do it.

Please don't do it yourself! You could really hurt yourself and get an infection that will make things worse. There is a reason why people get these things done professionaly. Don't harm your body, you don't want to risk a scar or worse. Would you be happy with a fake one? You are lucky you can have a piercing at 17! Most people have to wait till they are 18. Do you know anyone your age with a belly piercing? Personally, I don't like belly piercings, they give out the wrong message.

If only we all knew what our kids where up to behind our backs!

Simple, don't. I have pierced allot of things myself, and it never turns out good. Even if you don't get an infection, the piercing won't be right and be painful because it's not straight. Wait and go to someone. Not something you want to hear, but it's the truth. I speak from experience.

Wow that is a stupid idea.

You don't have the correct tools, I doubt they are sterilized, you don't know where the placement and depth of the piercing should be, you don't respect your parents which is just flat out awful.

Just wait until you are older. Seriously, the wait isn't that bad and you'll be happier that way knowing the piercing was done correctly and you won't have to worry about rejection, migration, infections, scarring and losing all trust with your dad.

What are you going to do when he finds out anyway?!

you opt for a 14 gauge sterilized needle or the hollow would be too small and additionally you are able to not sterilize a needle it has to return interior the equipment. you moreover mght choose a sterilized piece of jewellery any micro organism in that hollow no count how lots you clean it, it is gonna stay there. I basically have been given mine executed with the help of a professional each week in the past and that's unquestionably the main suitable thank you to bypass. It harm surprisingly undesirable i won't be able to think of doing it myself ouch. in case you do clean it as quickly as an afternoon with a shot glass with heat water and a teaspoon of sea salt not kitchen salt. No peroxide, alcohol, or neosporin as quickly as you pierce it. sturdy good fortune

HA! this is such a dumb idea.. i dont even want to begin to explain! first off you probbaly arent using sterilized equiptemnt! and boiling it in water is ot sterilizing. nor drenching it in rubbing alcohol. it doesnt kill all the germs and bacteria. you are probably using a sewing needle. which is to small. you probably arent using a good grade material of jewelry (nto that crap they sell at the mall, isnt good for healing) how do you know you didnt pierce it too shallow? how do you mnow you didng to to deep? do you knwo the risks liek keloids, boils, rejection and migration? do you even know the aftercare???? )its not rubbign alcohol, hydrogen peroxide nor neosporin. those are all HORRIBLE FOR PIERCINGS>!) your dad will mos tlieklly make you wit till you are 18 to get it done not caus he will need tot tak you to the doctors cause your piercing is infected.... there is a reason why they dont pierce young people iek you. you have a higher risk of migration and rejection since you still have a lot of growing to do... so you really only screwwed yourself over in the long run... and now also... you dont even knwo the right equiptment. or right size jewelry to accomidate for swelling ect...

When it comes to body piercing -- the formerly fringe procedure that has moved into the mainstream -- medical experts have a message: Don't try this at home. Or maybe at all.

Those warnings by groups representing dermatologic surgeons, dentists and other medical authorities have acquired new urgency after two cases in which teenage girls nearly died as a result of infections they developed from botched piercings.

In October, Indiana surgeons removed the breast of an 18-year-old diabetic whose torso was invaded by flesh-eating bacteria surrounding the nipple rings she acquired at a salon to celebrate her birthday. A few days later a Boston mother was sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to seek medical attention for her 13-year-old daughter, who suffered major organ damage from an infection that resulted after the girl pierced her own belly button.

Other reports in medical journals include a sewing needle that disappeared during a do-it-yourself tongue piercing and had to be extracted by oral surgeons; a variety of serious, drug-resistant bacterial infections; hepatitis and tetanus; fractured teeth and nerve damage from tongue studs; as well as permanent scarring.

My advice honey is to stay natural

It's not a smart move to do it yourself. It's worth the wait to have a reputable belly button piercing person to do it. You are taking a huge risk doing it yourself.

I don't think you should pierce it. Isn't it possible that your Dad will see it within the next three years? I know it's hard when your parents won't let you do things when you want to, but that's your Dad. He loves you and he's trying to take care of you.

You really should just wait because if you messed up in anyway it could do a lot of damage. It wouldn't be a good thing if you got an infection there. I would just be patient and wait until you can go and get it done professionally.
