In a fairly bright room, I would definitely not go with Plasma, because the picture is way too bright. Plasma TVs take a fair amount of electrodes to stimulate the system of tiny gas filled bubble like objects on the back of the screen. LCD is your best bet. Less power to run. Better picture in all kinds of light. I would stay away from DLP also. The reds are too red, the blues are too blue etc, making it too bright. The colors on the LCD are good, but not glaringly so.

LCD has low glare since plasma has a glass screen. Also LCD is not going to have an image burned into it like plasma will. My brother sells media systems and he recommends the Sony Full HD 1080 as the best tv on the market right now.

By far LCD - They have non-glare screens and work great in high-light situations. Stay away from projection TVs and Plasmas if you want to view in a lighted area.
