I started to have psoriasis when I was 15 years old. I'm a female and I thought it was just a bad case of dandruff and scars due to scratching of head. When I got a very short haircut, it seemed to disappear, and I thought it did. It came back when I was 16 1/2 years old. A few months later, it disappeared and it came back again after a few months when I started sleeping late at night due to school projects. My mother told me that it was because of stress and sleeping late. And I told myself I won't be sleeping late anymore and drank virgin coconut oil, and I think it disappeared somewhat. It's not as worse as it had been before. I am really worried that I'll be able to live with it for the rest of my life. And recently, my younger sister appeared to get it as well on the scalp. I have a relative who is diagnosed with psoriasis as well, but she is around 40 + already and has psoriasis all over her body. Please help me! Thanks!

I empathize with you and this chronic disease. Our 21 year old daughter has been coping with severe bouts of it since age 17. She has had it covering her from head to toe. It seems stress, antibiotic use, lack of sun can bring on the bouts. She has had to give herself very expensive $1500 per shot medication and she has undergone light treatments. Thankfully she is still covered under our insurance. She now has psoriatic arthritis too. You really have to watch it, suntanning will help it and keeping your immune system in good shape with vitamin and mineral supplements can help too.

I have had psoriasis of the scalp for over 30 years. Sometimes I would get it on my neck. So bad I would bleed, I started a vitamin regimen called Barney's formula 2 weeks ago. I cannot believe I am saying this, I have had no breakouts. Visit this guys web site or the National Psoriasis Foundation. He has studied this thing into the ground and we all reap the benefits. I was so desperate I was thinking of taking Embrel because all of the creams and treatments did nothing. His research shows this is an immune disorder, that must me treated from the inside. All the supplements can be bought at WalMart and are great for your body any way! Look up Barney's Formula on the Psoriasis Foundation Website. You can spend days reading the questions and answers and stories of people like us, how they got this beast under control. I am now going to take it a bit further, I going to make some adjustments to my diet and see how the supplements and my diet all work together.

This may sound odd, but I have tried so many different products to no avail. Then I found Miracle Soap. Now I wash my hair and skin with this soap exclusively. I also bought the Miracle Ball for use in washing my clothes and I add Borax Twenty Mule Team and Arm and Hammer Washing Soda. I don't use any detergents or other soaps. I also use a crystal deodorant. I avoid all perfumes and scented lotions or products. My psoriasis has totally and completely disappeared. I would say it is a miracle! You can buy Miracle Products via the link below. I am not selling it - nor do I make any profit from your purchase, I am only telling you because it helped me.

I've had it since I was 7. It can be treated but not cured. So it's a life long battle. I've had it clear up for long periods then come back. I get patches here and there on my body. Stress my trigger outbreaks or mainly infections. One of the best treatments is getting some sun. Which is why your scalp cleared up with shorter hair. If your scalp is bad Neutragina T-gel works great. Put it on in the shower and let it sit for a few minutes. If you're having patches, the winter mainly, there's creams you can put on to help. You'll probably have to see a dermatoligst to get those. I suggest you do, they can help with all your questions and fears. Once you get to know it, you'll be able to handle outbreaks.

There are treatments for psoriasis but no cures. Sounds like you have a fairly mild case like mine if you only get it on your scalp. Go see a dermatologist as they an precribe some treatments for it. Using special shampoo every few days helps as well. Stress can also be a cause for breakouts. I know it causes mine.

My mother has an extremely severe case. I'm very lucky that mine is mild.
