My body just naturally wants to stay up late for some reason and I hate it. It ALLWAYS throws off my sleeping pattern. Then when I wake up I'm tired groggy - and didn't get enough sleep. How do you get your body out of a bad habit? I'll sit down at 9 or 10 pm and try to fall asleep but to no avail I'm laying in bed for the next 3 or 4 hours thinking. Is there a good way of changing your sleeping habits? AND at this point I stay up later and later...and get my self in deeper and deeper. Drives me crazy....

how old are you?
Studies have found that teens tend to have later body clocks than adults, meaning they feel they should stay up later and wake up later. but they also recover faster from drastic changes to sleep patterns.

some helpful tips:
try to go to bed at the same time every night
try to wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends
dont use your bed for anything other than sleep, dont read or watch TV in bed
dont drink caffeine or sugar late in the day
get some exercise about 1-2 hours before bed time, even if its just 20 minutes of walking or biking

Sounds like you are not wearing yourself out during the day. Try exercising for an hour during the day. Don't drink caffeine after say 3:00pm and try going to bed an hour earlier each few nights. For example: If you normally fall asleep around midnight, try going to bed around 11:00 for a few nights until you can regularly fall asleep then. Then move to 10:00pm and so on. Lay in your bed with a lamp on and read a magazine or book before bed along with everything else. It should help you some! Good Luck!

I don't know if you have the TV or radio on when you lay down but that maybe something you turn off. Is there something else that's bothering you or a certain person on your mind. If all else fails then try getting some professional help. Alot of people have the same problems so you're not in it alone. Just don't start getting hooked on any type of substances. Take care.

Ask your doctor for either some Ambien CR or Sonata. I used to have the same problem until I got Sonata. You only take it for a 2 week period, and it corrects your sleeping patterns in that time. It's great!

i might get into the habit of waking up on the time that I ought to, inspite of how late I sleep. as an occasion, I had to stand up at 6:30am. i might set my alarm for that element each and every morning; does not be counted how late I slept the previous night. My physique might tire out early and hence i ought to get to mattress early. It did no longer take long for my physique clock to reset itself. or you ought to only attempt to circulate to mattress one hour until eventually now than the previous night in the process the week until eventually you get used to the habitual.

I agree with kutekymmee. Also, make your room as dark and quiet as possible when you are trying to sleep. If it's too quiet, try some "white noise". You can get CD for this.
