Sounds like Rosacea. Acne medications help. Avoid extreme heat, cold, caffeine too.

avoiding heat will reduce skin redness(erythema) I heard the main ingredient in sudafed( Pseudoephedrine) shrinks blood vessels. Ask your doctor as its addictive and dangerous to heart patients.
