Old enough, and even then, if you're a little too young, you just have to get your parents permission. That's about it.

the official reg for enlistment is very thick, if you have specific questions you need to narrow your question down. But here are some basics:

17 with parental consent as a hig school senior, Graduate or GED holder. No older than I believe 33.

Pass the ASVAB test with a minimum of 31 (31 last I knew)

If prior service must have a RE code of acceptance and able to retire before age 55.

Permenant resident - only allowed to serve 8 years without becoming a citizen.

No medical problems to include poor mental heath history. This is determeined through a Dr. at MEPS

A clean background, certain misdemenaors can be accepted with a a waiver, see your local recruiter to find out if the conviction in question is acceptable.

I would listen to special_edd_yay. He said all that I was going to say and then some. The ASVAB is a test to detemine what type of job you can qualify for. Through the test they are able to find about IQ level and determine your strenghts and weaknesses for detemining what jobs would be good for you. Then you are able to choose from the list what you are interested in.
