already I see a load of rubbish getting spoken here. Which is where Yahoo answers falls down BADLY of course. If you don't know you shouldn't answer.

Each container must contain less than 100ml of liquid or gel. The total quantity of liquids and gels must be less 1 litre.
In effect, don't take anything to drink through security as you can always pick it up airside. Put most of your makeup in your hold luggage. The only fluids and gels you should aim to take in hand luggage through security is the stuff you will need overnight if your main hold luggage is lost e.g. toothpaste.

u cant take any liquids through security when you go through to departures but u can buy water etc from air side b4 u get on board any liquids etc thay just take them off you.

I recently flew from Bristol to Manchester - NO cosmetics allowed at all in hand luggage - I had to telephone my boyfriend to come back and get my make up - I wasn't going to let the airport workers get their hands on my cosmetics - value was about £120 - that makes it an expensive trip.
