Get off the computer and get that child to a doctor. If you don't have one, take him to an emergency room where it won't cost you anything. Children should not be in pain, especially enough to make him limp.

There is some science to this! There are four major hormones produced while we are in labor. Oxytocin, Prolactin, Endorphins (and beta-endorphins), and your catecholamines: epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenalin). Oxytocin is the one that helps you contract. Your endorphins are what give you that 'runners high'. These chemical compounds have a pain relief effect ten times more potent than morphine - which is why we are able to cope with the 'pain' of labor. Catecholmines are what prepare you for 'battle' and it is best if you only have this release for the very end of your labor -when it's about time to push. Catecholmines produce that 'fight or flight' mechanism in our bodies.. Dr. Grantley Dick-Read theorized that the more fear a woman had, the more tense her body was and the more pain she felt during labor. The reason behind this is that fear causes the rush adrenaline, causes the short, circular muscle fibers in the lower third of the uterus to contract.. At the same time that the long, straight muscle fibers of the uterus are contracting to efface and dilate the cervix, the short, circular muscle fibers of the lower uterus are also contracting to keep the cervix closed and "fight" the labor. The result? We have two powerful muscles pulling in opposite directions each time the birthing mother has a contraction. PAIN. If a mother can relax, it drops the catecholmine responses and let's the other hormones do their jobs. Not only that, but we tend to not breathe as calmly in this 'fight or flight mode' and that causes lack of oxygen to the uterus. Our uterus is a muscle, and if you don't have oxygen in a muscle, what happens? It cramps up! The more she relaxes and the more oxygen she brings in, the easier the contraction can be. Along with staying off her back where the nerve endings are being pressed to the uterus. Yes, our minds can change how we perceive pain. If you watch women give birth - you will notice that the ones who trust their bodies and just 'let go', seem to breeze through labor much easier than those who are afraid and 'fight' it. Yes, there are women who have given birth without pain. I had an almost pain free birth with my fifth child - up until the last 10 minutes of birth. Afterwards, well yeah - I felt pain then!! lol It just takes some education - and that's why many women seek a childbirth class that can give you the tools to help ease the fears. Because that right there - IS half the battle!

OK, I am trying to understand, buy why are you asking for 'hints' on Yahoo --- get that baby to the Doctor NOW. Good God, if my child was in that much pain, I would already be there! It might be something serious - all my kids have been constipated from time to time over the years, but never to the point of limping! There are lots of things they can do immediately for extreme constipation -- left untreated he could die from the blockage. If she doesn't have a car -- take her yourself or have her call her husband! Bet he would want to know that his child is in pain and possibly in danger.

aww could be a kidney infection(even Though kidneys are in the back pain can be felt all the way on the side Especially with a little 3 year old body). My daughter is 4 and she came to me last night and said her knees hurt. I knew she meant it. I figured she is going through a growth spurt. But if a 3 year old is complaining about pain on the inside a doctor's visit may be in order. Better to err on the side if caution.

It's not appendicitis, as the appendix is on the RIGHT side of the body. If your nephew is in so much pain, shouldn't you or his mother be asking a doctor, instead of asking people on the internet? Even if we were doctors, we couldn't diagnose over the internet. Get the child to a doctor or urgent care right away.

tell your sister to make that boy a doctors appointment. Could be a variety of things. But if he is in that much pain, he should get medical help.
and to jaamat6: the appendix is on the right side for most people, I should know I have a great scar on my right side from when mine was removed in 3rd grade.

Appendicitis? I was in grade 2 when I had it so I don't remember the symptoms, but it is on the left side of your body.

Does he have regular bowel movements? Maybe his intestines are blocked. I would check with a doctor.
