You can take the good of all religions and be a spiritual person. If you look at what religion has brought to the world its really quite sad. The centuries of hate and bloodshed of my fellow man in the name of god is deplorable. My own personal belief is that we are not seperate from eachother like religion tells us. We are all breathing the same air, we are all made of the same materials, we need eachother to survive. If there is a god why would god want people to hate eachother and spill the blood of another man in his name? Wouldn't he want you to love no matter what? Why would god care how you were to worship him or if you worship him? He gave you free will right?

i dont believe in anything. theres way to many possibilities for anything to be true and people outrule the other possibilities and are stubborn to the fact that there MAY be a god and there may NOT be a god. the bible is a stupid book written by different people in different times so how can any of it be considered true? other than the fact that yes jesus was a real living person, but his abilities cant be proven and the fact that mary was a virgin cant b proven.

Just like socialism, religions are a GREAT idea in theory, but not so much in practice...
The idea is good: a group of people who gather together to worship their God and support each other and teach other about "him,"
But in reality it turns into a bunch of people who use it as an excuse to feel superior to others, to be xenophobic, to be uninclusive, and all around gossipy hypocritical jerks that are so far removed from the intended message of their "God," they no longer accuratly represent what they claim to believe in...
AAAAHHHH. (no, I'm not jaded, not at all nuh-uh)

if you don't like the answer, don't ask the question. For christians , the Bible is our holy book & our final authority for what we believe so of course we quote it. Do you prefer muslim quotes from the quran instead, or is it just the Bible you have problems with?

No religion is not wastage of time. It is proper utilization of time.
Religion teaches you how to live in this world, how to deal and treat with others etc.
People must think before commenting on religion. Its strange that every one here is trying to become a champion in this field by adding his/her comments.
Firts of all these worthy people should explain in detail about religion then give their views about that.
Many people even dont know the correct spelling of the world 'religion', but in writing their comments, they try to show that there were the professors on 'religion study'.
What name should be given to such people.

No religion is base of every thing. One must follow guide lines set by religion. As a matter of fact time spent under religious guidelines is the real time utilized only the other is wasted.

Read the Bible yourself and form your own opinion. Pray to God and sincerely ask Him for an answer. Then, pay attention when you have thoughts pop into your head because if you are sincerely asking God for guidance on this, you WILL get your answer. Sometimes He answers right away, and sometimes not, but He will answer.

Billions of people share the belief that the creator of the universe wrote (or dictated) one of the many holy books. Unfortunately, there are many books that claim divine authorship, and they make incompatible claims to divine authorship; and they make incompatible claims as to how we MUST live. Competing religious doctrines have shattered our world into separate moral communities, and these divisions have become a continual course of human conflict.
In response, many sensible people advocate something called ‘religious tolerance’. While religious tolerance is surely better than religious war, tolerance is not without its problems. Out fear of provoking religious hatred has rendered us unwilling to criticize ideas that are maladaptive. It has obliged us to lie to ourselves—repeatedly and at the highest levels of discourse—about the compatibility of religion and scientific rationality. Our competing religious certainties are impeding the emergence of a viable global civilization. Religious faith—faith that there is a God who cares what His name is called, faith that Jesus is coming back to earth—is on the wrong side of an increasing war of ideas—“Letter to a Christian Nation” by Sam Harris

What do you expect us to do? We quote what we consider the best way of explaining what we mean. How is that any different from any other quotes?
