basically my parents are ***** and for some reason refuse to assist me with their info to put on my fafsa there for i cannot apply properly. in the past i had my nana write a letter stating my issue and it was still denied. what can i do? i cannot afford and i dont know how to get grants! im only a gal with a GED and im desperate!

I would go to your financial aid office and talk to them because you are looking for a dependancy override which are fairly rare due to the government frowning upon them. some advise would be to not have your nana write a letter instead have a member of the clergy or a psychologist write the letter as non family members will pull more weight. The fact your parents refuse to give their information is usually not a specific cause for a dependacy override because if it was all parents would just refuse.

The below answer is correct. Dependency Overrides are done very rarely. But, it doesn't hurt. I went to a conference for Financial Aid workers (yes they have them....) and there were a lot of FA offices that are easy going towards these. Like the below answer said, usually parents declining to give you info for your FAFSA isn't a good enough reason.
