if the food has lots of fillers (corn, by-product) it will cause the dog to go more. I've saw a website once while deciding on a dog food that said science diet is really not that great, ingreditents wise, they list the first five ingredients next to the cheap stuff (pedigree I think) and it wasn't any better. Just a much higher price

I'm sure that the vet has told you to introduce the food slowly, very slowly so if you have indeed done this then it could be that your dog has a wheat allergy.
I've always fed my dobes on dry food but this one, no chance! It has to be complete tinned food or she has the squits. Turned out to be the wheat content. This was after lots of trial and error but complete tinned dog food shouldn't have that much wheat in it. It may just be worth checking it out though incase it's a gluten thing.
If by chance you did change the diet very quickly, like over a day or two, and didn't give it the couple weeks it should be changed over, then it could be just that the new food is upsetting the tummy as too quick a change. If this is the case, you could try starting again and giving the old food and slowly introduce the new food over a period of 7 (minimum) to 14 days. This is a bit of a pain and may involve you having half tins open etc but if it works then hey!
Good luck anyway, I hope your poor pooch doesn't have a sore bottom for long!

How many times your dog goes to the potty depends on the type of food that is best for your particular breed and activity level of the animal.

Go back to a dry dog food, you've added too much fiber. Canned dog food will cause the stools to be looser, switch back.

when changing dog food... the dogs digestive system goes through some kind of shock. it should come back to normal in a while. His system just has to get used to the new food.
