Just my opinion. Often, words don't translate exactly from one language to another. "Patio" is indeed probably the nearest equivalent in Spanish for "Back yard.". However, I can see why other words like yarda trasera or jardin de atras might be used too in order to be more precise. "Yarda" is generally Puerto Rican usage, as far as I know.

I'm a Spanish speaker, and "Patio" is the correct translation in most countries.

In a lot of places back yard is "patio" and it's diferent to garden "jardÃn".

you have seen many answers, those whose said "Patio" are correct, the rest are not correct. In Honduras and other countries we say (patio).

In English, the meaning is - patio trasero, corral, traspatio.
In American English, it's jardin trasero.
