I work at GeekSquad and I install this often. When 2007 first came out, I ran into a few copies that would not accept the serial that came with it, no matter how many times I looked over it. But I did exchange it and the other one did work. Exchanging the software will fix the problem, that's the only way

Check inside the book they gave you, a warranty card, or on the CD package. I think they leave some numbers off the box so people don't just go in a store, copy them down, and then update their old software or install an illegal copied version. If you can't find another number, call Symantec. The tech support number should be in the box but you can also get if off their website.

there shld be a help line on the package. Perhaps wrong info included on the pack you got.
