That's a really good question. Spirituality is a very personal thing, but there are a number of ways to approach this, depending on what type of guidance you need, and whether you prefer that guidance to be within a particular religious tradition or not.
One good online starting place for general information, interesting articles, online groups, and related resources is "Beliefnet," at http://www.beliefnet.com/
You can also spend some time browsing the spirituality section of your local bookstore, or even amazon.com, to see what resonates or piques your curiosity.
For more specific questions about your spiritual life, however, what may be most helpful is to speak with a "real live person." Most religious leaders are delighted to answer spiritual questions. If you belong to a particular faith, you might want to start there. Make a phone call to the local church, synagogue, etc. and ask the leader a few initial questions. if you like what you hear, see if you can make an appointment to talk further.
If you are not affiliated with a particular religious group, that's ok -- you can still call around and see what they have to say. (In fact, that might be helpful regardless.)
Above all, seek truth, even if it's a little hard to hear at first. All the best to you in your journey!
ps
if you have some specific questions, feel free to email me. I'll help you if I can.

Spiritual Guidance is the best guidance there is,but also the hardest because you walk by faith and not by sight. But the proof is what you don't see, what your believing for.And it's awesome because what your believing for is exactly opposite of what your seeing. But you wouldn't need faith if it wasn't that way.And in the end you are totally satisfied with what you had faith for.In order to gain spiritual Guidance all you need to do is read your bible daily and meditate on His word day and night and eventually you will start receiving signs from the supernatural realm directing your foot steps. But it will be against all you or anyone else knows as common sense but after a while you'll realize through the power of the Holy spirit that the world is composed of blind guides and they try to drag you in the same ditch they are heading in,in order for themselves to feel better about their own mistakes.Take care and may GOD bless you.

The Dharma taught by the Buddha works for me, as a Buddhist. It depends on what kind of "guidance" you require and what works best for you.
Buddhism is MY thing because it finally answered all my analytical, logic-based questions in life in a way that makes sense and works. I'm a Tibetan Buddhist (Gelug lineage) but there are many lineages and various kinds of Buddhism. If you want to explore for curiosity's sake www.buddhanet.net might help. There are also lots of books on the subject, particularly the "Complete Idiot's Guide to Buddhism" is one of the best for a good overview of it.
In the end, though, you must find what niche you feel comfortable with and whatever guides you to altruism and wisdom is what's best for you.

I think it depends on why you are looking for guidance.
Do you feel some sort of spiritual pull?
Are you in trouble? I don't mean with the law, just with life in general.
Have you recently suffered a bereavement?
Trying to make sense of the world?
Could be different answers for different problems.
I have a couple of wise old men and a wise woman to whom I can turn. Some people come to me.
Where do you live, DairyMilk? In the UK? The States?
There may be places near you to visit.
Email me if you'd like.

if alot of things are going on in my life and I need some help sorting them out.........I do a reading for myself, sometimes several days in a row to keep focused......I also read alot of books on synchronicity (the miracles of the way things happen in life to show us that we are being watched and helped...guidance from above.......has to do with patterns and signs)....... I meditate and have a practice which involves spirituality.........I also have a spiritual counselor

Look up Dr. Wayne Dyer. He's unbelievable. You'll see why. Just get his tapes or DVD's or books from your oocal library and soon you'll want to read and listen to EVERYTHING he has to say.
He's extremely spiritual without being religious. He's who you'd pick out of anyone in the world to tell you what to do about any situation and he would be right on. The man knows right from wrong without being preachy and without being rightous. He helps you dig within yourself without force feeding his own ideas unto you. He's a guide to end all guides.

You do not need guidance. You need to look at your own life yourself and not just follow what others are telling you to do. If you still want someone to tell you what to do, then I suggest that you read about philosophy concerning morals. A good history of philosophy will help you choose the right path.

Salam, A revert sister myself.. congratulations .. its always heart warming to see another starting on the same journey. Either way... in your own time and way you will revert. Allah guides whom he wills and he has called to you. Take the time you need. I would suggest reading and studying Islam so no questioners or adversity will diminish your faith. I emplore you to approach the local masjid. I would simply take a sister by the hand and say... please can you help me? I am wanting to learn more about Islam. Any sister will consider it an honour to help and will welcome you whole hearted. There is usually a women circel once a week at the mosque where you sit on the floor and the sister reads from Quran and explains the meaning and appliation, and all sisters are encouraged to ask questions and share thoughts. There is ample free literature and every sister will offer you Quran and assistance and a warm welcome and frienship. I emplore you to do this as its wonderful to study Islam with a friend.. a sister. Whom can take you to her home & family and read and eat and fast with you and answer your questions and give you courage to attend events and introduce you to the community. When you are ready... approach the imam to take your shahada.. declaration of faith and then you have started life a new & welcome , welcome, welcome x May Allah stay in your heart and protect you always x please contact me if you need a friend.
