If you think it means "mankind" then why do you believe in an individual called "Adam" and one called "Eve".

By the way, "woman" means female man, so MAN would be the correct reference for them both.

Look forward ahead in Genesis and you'll see that even after the "male and female both" were created (which were of the same origin) that Adam was "put to sleep" and Eve was created from Adam. The first "female" was made of the same thing as Adam, the second "female" was made OF Adam. Some believe that this first female was named Lilith and that's how the legend of her began.

Because the Hebrew word "adam" means "humankind, mankind, or human being." The KJV and some other versions use the Hebrew word "adam" at Gen. 5:2, but don't translate the word into English. Most translations, such as the NKJV, use the word "mankind" there.

The Hebrew word Adam means something to the effect of "clay" and is used in the language to refer to all of mankind, not just the first man. Since we are formed from the ground, it is fitting to use this name.

It's a matter of translation in the NIV it says He called them man. So whats your point. Adam and Eve every one know that, it is made clear in ever transalation I know of.

Ok, Small but Fierce, what translation error? That is what the bible says. Word for word. It was not in a different language. It is in English. Now if you are saying that the bible was translated wrong in the beginning, then how in the world can this be a divine book? If someone translated that part wrong, then how do we know they did not make other mistakes?
