it's true, hot (really hot) in summer and cold in winter;
about people i can tell you that generally toscans(people living in Tuscany) are really funny really friendly, always ready to joke..i love these guys!!!!!
about cooking it depends on you, are you going to a family? in this way i think it's hard that you'll cook... if stay alone you can cook or go out, ask for delivery or taking out, or pre-cooked foods... as you prefer.

Lucky you! Firenze or Florence is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in Italy. By 'cook' you mean getting hot and bothered? Not unless you are working in the fields all day. Neither will you freeze if you have decent accommodation. The people are as friendly as any Italians can be, but friendly than in Rome or Venice.
You should enjoy Tuscany - make sure you visit Siena too.

The city is beautiful. If you don't have a car try to find accomodations in the center as the suburbs have infrequent public transportation. I live in Florence and I'm from Florida: except this year, the winters are humid and very cold. In 24 years I have never lived in any place where it was over 65 degrees inside in winter (freezing cold to me). People are courteous, few are friendly by Floridian standards. Summers are hot by Northern standards. My father visited in July and almost always wore a sweater at night.

Hi! Florence is a beautiful city, a must if you love middle ages and reinassance art and architecture. the region around it is full of great landscapes and small villages worth a visit too. VERY hot in the summer, cold in the winter. the city is packed with tourists, people living there are used to them, so they are usually friendly, but you can also find someone who doesn't like them. the bad thing is that life's expensive. Have a nice trip!

Any of the three could be an outstanding journey. Florence is a ideal and historic place with lots to work out and do as is Rome. Rome is a lot greater and has greater form with the classic Roman factors of interest, the fountains and squares, the Vatican, ... . the two are nicely linked to something of Italy by skill of prepare. the two are sturdy bases for exploring. From Florence, this is hassle-free to get out into the Tuscan nation-state. From Rome places like Orvieto, Naples and Tivoli are hassle-free day journeys. the two have exciting community fairs. the two are only a million hr 35 min aside making use of the quickly trains, so it could be distinctly hassle-free to circulate to between the two. Bari could be somewhat cheap and much less full of vacationers. it is likewise takes longer to get to different popular places by skill of making use of the trains, yet there are exciting issues to work out and do in that area like traveling Polignano al Mare or Alberobello. There are additionally ferries to Greece or Croatia. you fairly don't have a difficulty making acquaintances in any of the three.

You'll cook if you're there during August as it gets very hot indeed. It gets cold in winter too. I found the Florentines to be wonderful people. Just remember they take their art, religion and culture very seriously.
