You may as well activate it then not use it, so long as there are no big fees. Having open unused credit is great for your credit score. If you do just not activate it thats fine, too. Still better to do as I mentioned.

Yes, I have several credit cards that I get sent that I never activate them by calling the number on the card. Closing accounts actually hurts your score for a short period of time. Not activating them prevents me from using them.

While a few credit cards make an improvement in your Credit Score, It takes some time to do that.
If you only needed one, you CAN only activate one and save the other one. You will still get credit for having 2, even thought you only use one.

If you don't want it then not activating should be okay. On the other hand....why not keep it, activate it and use it wisely? The more acounts in good standing the better your credit report. You have to build credit in order to get your score up. Two CC is not too much!

I suggest you have a credit card shredding party and get rid of those that you don't need and stop applying for more credit cards. That way you avoid temptation.

cancelling a credit card does not hurt your rating. do it. the less credit cards the better. plus you are paying for a facility that you are not using.

not activating is the answer but don't forget to destroy it ( and as you seem to be aware the potential debt if activated can lower your credit score - or at least your debt to income ratio )

If you just need one, i suggest you to call and cancel the card u dont need. Eventhough it is ok to just destroy the card without activate it, it is safer to just cancel that card
