All through out my life religious people have demonstrated a common trait. That is the inability to question their belief system and look at any evidence that contradicts their belief. Prove me wrong. Here is a clip about prayer:

No, for people who believe in God, prayer is real

One cannot scientifically prove or disprove the existance of God.

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."

With love in Christ.

I'm one religious person who can't believe any thing without
proof. There is no thing in the new testament that even says
that I have to. I says, Prove all things.

You're right about most religious people, they're not able
to amend their wrong beliefs, correct them when there is
obvious, visible evidence that they're wrong. I walked away
from such people a long time ago.

Some of their prayers are more of a DELUSION. They ask for
heaven on earth, for this earth to be made a paradise-for
them. They ask for other people's property, other people's
every other thing.

They don't realize that prayer involves inquiry, Asking questions. Prayer is not asking for "what I want" all the time.

Most of these "religious people" could not tell you why they pray.
I know why I pray. I have a wife, family, friends, and co-workers who I wish to be reunited with when it's all over and done.

In this link, your point is proven, sort of:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/14/AR2005071401695.html?nav=rss_health

However, as it states in the beginning, sometimes understanding the workings of God lies beyond science, at least at this point in time. If you consult other sciences (or I guess some would call them pseudosciences, but there's definitely something there) there's something to be said for prayer, in terms of it being a source of positive energy which can have benefits.

Frankly if a person knows that another is praying for him or her, at the very least there is that mental boost or placebo effect, so if you want to think of it that way. In that sense, it can be a very positive force and I believe that's a very viable theory. For me though, I believe strongly in prayer, but I will admit I can't explain the workings of prayer because I'm not spiritually qualified to comment on it. To do so would be deceiving myself into believing I truly understand it.

Hope this helps.

Gbkia Hello,

Well I pray and I could tell you lots of instances of answered prayer and spiritual experience. But I could be anyone making stuff up just to prove a point. The only person who can prove prayer is real is you. Try it your self you may find out. Ask God to give you a revelation of truth in the knowledge of him.

Is self-hypnosis an illusion? Is mass hypnosis an illusion? Mob mentality is common in mankind. This can be considered just one more example of it. But then, why do we reduce our existence to merely what we can see and touch? That's the trap the Greys have fallen into. Do we really want to do the same?

It is nothing but pure superstition.

Jim McCrea's ramblings are the usual vacuous argument supporting the 'Power of Prayer'.

You could substitute 'Flying Spaghetti Monster' for God in his argument and it's just as valid.

Utter tripe.

Prayer is not an allusion for true believers. The best way to attain wisdom to solve all individual and coolective problems is to turn to the One True God for divine guidance.

That goes for Atheists too!!! Atheists also have the inability to question their belief system and look at any evidence that contradicts their belief... prove me wrong...

Atheists have just as strong beliefs as Religious people do... And don't say that Atheists don't believe anything because that's impossible...
