Can data files on DVD+RWs be overwritten but also free the space on the DVD+RW of the deleted files without having to completely erase the DVD+RW to free the space? Is there any free software that can do this? I have tried RecordNow but it doesn't seem to free the space when I delete files. I know it can be done with videos but am not sure if it can be done with data files.

depends on how you formatted the disk originally, If you use Nero and format the CD using INCD, you can copy and paste files to the disk, delete and add at will.

If you just burned some files using Nero express, deleting may not work properly or not at all.

You may have to reburn the CD using a drag and drop utility like the one that comes with Nero call "INCD"

Check the source below for a little more info.

I do not like RW media per say, if it becomes outdated, it may not work on newer computers, since you will need INCD too possibly read it. I have RW cd media from a computer just 5 years ago and can not access the data. It looks for the RW program that made the CD.

Good Luck

You cannot remove individual files from a DVD+RW. Sorry - you have to Erase the entire disc, then re-write all of the information to the DVD+RW.

DVD+RW's start at the front, and write, until the disk is full - then they start again. You cannot 'wipe' a RW. You just record over the old stuff. Once you have got your head round this concept. you probs won't need anothr prog.
Best of luck !
