Only the breeder can give you the paperwork to send in and only if they registered the litter. Both parents have to be reigistered for a litter to be registerable.

You can't unless you find the original breeder.

In order to register your dog you need papers from the original breeder that they got when they registered the litter.

Does this make sense?

The breeder registers the litter using the information from the registered parents. They get back one puppy registration form for each puppy in the litter. They fill it out (including whether this is a limited registration) with the new owner and then the puppy registration is mailed in and the puppy is registered.

ONLY the original owner of the litter can request another copy of the registration form so you can register your puppy.

If you want to compete in companion dog events you can apply for an ILP number which would allow you to compete with your Yorkie in everything except conformation.

You'll need photos and proof the dog has been altered. Go here for more info:

She must have not breed the mom and dad, if she don't know how old it is. sounds QUESTIONABLE to me. I raise yorkies and I know if the mom and dad were both registered, The only way is to have the litter number from moms litter papers and send it in. The litter will have there own numbers. you need a birth date and litter number. Look up AKC.org, or ckc.com or nkc.com. What ever she was suppose to be registered. I hope you didnt pay a lot for the pup because sounds like someone giving the reputable breeders like me a bad name.
I have pups for sale WITH papers in hand. Good luck.

If the person you bought her from doesn't know, then you are probably out of luck getting papers. I hope you didn't pay an arm and a leg for her. If you didn't get the papers when you got the puppy, chances are she can't be registered. You may have just bought yourself a puppy from a puppy mill!!! I'm with Woooh..you don't buy a car without the keys, you don't buy a pure breed without their papers.

If you didn't receive papers from the breeder, then most likely the parents weren't registered with AKC. Both parents must have been registered in order to register a litter. But, if you feel as if you HAVE to have papers for your puppy, you can always apply to the AKC for an ILP number. This is an Indefinite Listing Privilege and is used for folks who would like to compete in AKC activities such as Agility, Rally Obedience, Obedience and other AKC sports. Check out www.akc.org for more information about obtaining an ILP.

Hopefully you didn't pay allot for an unpapered puppy, I doubt you can get it papers but you can ask the people you purchased it from to submitt the paperwork to the AKC, you need the parents registration numbers and the DOB...you might as well give up it's not going to happen. You can still love it as much as if it were AKC registered.

We have a registered, it has papers, Yorkie puppy. If you want it to have papers then the parents would also need to have papers. It would also need to be a pure bred, if not then you also can't get papers even if both parents have them.

When you buy a car would you forget to ask for the keys?
Ask the person who sold you the dog.
If the breeder doesn't have an exact age on the pup you should have seen the red flag.

You _might_ be able to if the breeder will help. Check link below. Although, if the breeder can't even tell you how old the pup is, good luck, you'll need it.
