they can work seperately and be ok .... the problem is usually with antivirus apps that have active protection ... they can conflict and seriously bog down ur pcs' resources ... if u turn off all active protection it should be alright .. but one antivirus app is plenty imo ...keep 3 or 4 antispyware apps if u want and dont let them run at startup and turn any active protection off ..

Adi,

You can and SHOULD have multiple antivirus/spyware programs on your computer because here's the thing: there is no ONE single program that can detect everything out there. Even Norton (the top rated antivirus program) can't detect ALL malicious programs that can attack your PC.

The things to remember are:

1. Never run more than one program at the SAME time.
2. If you think your computer is infected, boot it up in SAFE MODE first and then run one antivirus/spyware program at a time.

There is no limit, by the way. But don't use more than one at a time.

Can have as many as you like, however only one should be running at any one time. Multiple anti-virus programs are really not needed if you have Norton or Mcaffe. Many resources go into virus protection. I would only run and maintain one Anti-virus. Most problems today come from spyware. Ad-aware is good and spybot is good. Run one of these at a time too. If your having internet problems, then too many tool bars conflict with functionality also, as many are spyware themselves.
Good Luck
Dan

There are no limits on the number of anti-virus software you can have on a single computer. You can have as many as you like. That being said, practical problems such as compatibility may prevent some anti-virus software from working / co-operating with others .. that is a common problem with computer software not just limited to the anti-virus types.

For specific issues regarding compatability, read more on the software vendors support site or pose a question to the vendor's support if you have support on them.

Multiple Anti-virus software don't play well together. Pick one and go with it, just keep it up to date. The spyware stuff is okay. I have Windows Defender, Spybot, & Ad-Aware SE

You only need one, and that is the maximum allowed

Different anti-virus programs cannot work together. If you try to have two or more on your computer, one of the programs will not work until the others are disabled or uninstalled

You can only have 1 instance of an antivirus on your computer because when you scan it will pickup on the definitions of each others and try to destroy them. But you can have several instances of anti spywares on your PC. I have 3. "PEACE

DO NOT have more than one anti-virus at a time as they will conflict, especially Norton and McAfee. However, you can have more than one Anti-Spyware.
