You can serve as early as the NICU with newborns to someones last day on this earth at whatever age that may be.

As an OT you can work with physical and/or mental issues. Physical issues can be anything from a severe neurological disability to general weakness as long as there has been a decline in independence with everyday function. With mental issues we work with diagnosis such as Schizophrenia, depression, etc.

As long as there has been something that would affect normal development or cause a decline of independence with everyday activities, all you need is a doctors order for a therapy evaluation.

I would say you would be working with people that have lost their job through injury and must be retrained in another field. Also, the mentally challenged may be people you would work with to train for placement in the workforce. How about teenagers studying occupations

Well, seeing this first hand after my mother-in-law had a stroke, you would serve all kinds. Just like anything else, different things happen to people of all races, ages, sexes, and degree's in life.
