Hi there,
I have a persian Cat aged 18 months old who is due within the next 2 weeks or so to have her Kittens. However although I know she concieved around the middle of November I'm not sure of the exact date. What signs would I look for when She is ready...apart from the fact that I'd see little Kittens popping out that is...lol
Like what signs show me that she will be preparing for birth. Will she start searching out a place to give birth like a favourite little corner or bed etc...I have a Rottweiler whom she gets on great with but would prefer the Kittens wern't around him as he can get a bit over affectionate & may cause harm un-wittingly
I'd appreciate any help as I really want to be at home with her rather than leave her alone....Thanks Guys.

Is it possible for me to get her to give birth where I want her to...like upstairs rather than downstairs where my Rottweiler stays...he knows he's not allowed upstairs so doesn't go up there & can't be anywhere near the new Kittens then...

OK Yes! her food & litter tray are already upstairs...have been all along so as to keep my Rocky from eating her food mainly & of course so she always had her own space & privacy...doe's that mean then that she's more likely to give birth upstairs? I've placed 2 beds up there for her.

When my cat was about to give birth, she started meowing for about three days. When you feel her tummy, you'll know that she is due anytime soon because you can actually feel the kittens and her stomach is very big. And yes, I do agree with the answers above me. She'll start looking for a "nest" where it is quiet, soft, warm, and comfortable. It could be a bed, a pillow, a closet, and so on. (My cat started running around frantically looking for a place to give birth in.) After, about the day before she gives birth or a few hours in advance, her water will start breaking, which you'll actually see. So keep her in the room or place you won't mind for her to give birth in. She will want to come out, but don't let her out because it might be dangerous for her. During her birth, don't bother her. She'll do whatever is necessary to keep the kittens clean. After, you can come into the room to keep her company and feed her well. Well, good luck. I hope I helped.

No matter how hard you try to be home when the kittens are born, you cat is most likely going to have them in a place where it is quiet and no one is around. Such as a closet, dresser drawer, under the bed. The best thing you can do is make sure that she has a place where she can give birth and the dog wont be able to distract or scare her.

You could try moving her litter box and food dishes upstairs. And yes, she will start searching for a "nest" where she will be spending the next few weeks. Try to make her a comfortable, clean, and quiet place so she wil be more apt to stay where shes put.

My cats always became really affectionate. Wanting me to pet her, really begging. And she would follow me around meowing. Breathing hard, and when she started labor she wouldnt let me leave her. I had to stay up all night while she gave birth to 6 kittens. If I got up to leave she followed. Good Luck.

you like time for a cat to experience like they very own you and observe I mentioned the cat owns you. it is how a cat might think of so which you ought to to get used to it. As to the making waiting for start, she would be able to be attentive to what to do. only provide her a container with kinda low partitions and a pair of blankets. you want to deal along with her as much as a risk so she would be able to assist you cope with the kittens. My family contributors used to bredd himalyains and we had the female a minimum of 6 months until eventually now breeding and enable her get used to us so as quickly as we replaced out the bedding or cope along with her toddlers she did no longer freak out. She grew to become right into a competent mama to all 14 of her kitties. as quickly as we retired her she have been given to stay along with her final infant.
