I think that the terms are different in UK English than in American English - so thanks for answering only if you are from the UK!

What is the age range of infants, and what is the age range of babies? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

So am I right to assume that babies are generally younger than infants - i.e. a baby grows into an infant? Thanks...

Typically an 'infant' is aged 0-5, whereas a baby is 0-2. Infant schools can have varying age critera, so it's hard to comment in that respect. To summarise; an infant is a small/young child. A baby can be an infant but a child over the age of 2 is an infant or a child.

Infant is up to 2 years of age. Baby is not a medical term so an infant is still a baby.

Edit,
No you are wrong. Infant is below 2 years of age. Baby is just a lay term for infant.

I work in the aviation industry in the UK and for us the term 'infant' means exactly the same as baby - it's a child under the age of two years.

Here you go, this is the definition from the Cambridge dictionary:
infant (YOUNG CHILD)
noun [C]
a baby or a very young child:
a newborn infant

No, babies don't become infants. Babies and infants are exactly the same thing!
