3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.
A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.
ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.
THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTA L OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

funny!! do the math this way and it adds up!
total cost for the 3 men = 9*3 = $27
the money went to = $25 to the motel, $ 2 to the bellboy = which is $27.. which equals $27, which is the 3 men spend

There were thrity dollars to begin with.
The man behind the desk has $25. The bellboy has $2 and the three men each have $1
25+2+1+1+1=30
There is no missing dollar.
The $27 is the $25 for the room plus the $2 the bellboy kept. The 3 men have the other $3.

Each man paid $9 for the room, 9x3=27. Subtract the 2$ in the bellboys pocket (don't add) equals $25! which is the amont in the till. 25&5=$30. The extra $ is lost only because of the improper equation.

The question is a misdirection. The answer is that the calculation should be $27 - $2 = $25. $27 is what the men paid, $25 is what the Inn Keeper has and $2 is what the bellboy effectively stole from the men by not giving it back to them.

They paid $10. each but got back one, so they only paid $9. each. The tip was $2. That makes $27. plus $2. = $29.

What other dollar? (Hands behind back, whistling and looking around) They didn't pay $27 dollars, they paid $25 dollars. So there is no xtra dollar. Whomever came up with this joke didn't know how to do math. SO, in actuallity they each paid $8.33.

You need to look at it differently.
They paid $30
The room was $25
They got $3 back, meaning between them they had paid $28
And the bell boy kept the other $2

Why do we have three men sharing the same room anyway?
They should take the extra dollar and use it to buy seperate rooms
